I feel really bad for being away from you guys. You were so supportive when I posted about being away and the future of this blog. Frankly, I expected everyone to forget about me at this point as people have a tendency to do when you’re not right in front of them constantly. I expected to see a sharp dip in traffic from me not posting much anymore but instead it stayed just as high as when I was- I don’t know if it’s new folks discovering old posts or just you guys checking in on me to see how I’m doing.
Either way, I really want to thank you all for thinking of me and for all the sweet comments and messages you’ve sent me. Things for me are….okay at the moment. I mentioned in a previous post that I recently quit the job where I’d been working- it’s a long story, but it was the right decision for me. However, being back in the land of the unemployed is always a stress on my mental health. I’m using the opportunity to pursue some jobs that I feel are a better fit for me, but in the meantime the days go by really slowly. I also re-strained my back (which I threw out a couple of years ago and it’s never fully healed since) which makes it really difficult to use the time to get out and do photography stuff to at least pass the time. My boyfriend’s mother is also dealing with some extremely serious health issues so that’s weighing on us as well. I’m just trying to take each day as they come right now and am excited for the holidays coming up as a distraction!
With everything going on, I’ve had naked nails for 2 months. Yep, you read that right- two whole months. I think with everything that happened all at once, I just lost the love of polish. To be honest, I still don’t feel it back and I’m not sure it ever will come back fully but I did feel the urge to at least have fly-ass nails for Thanksgiving so I went ahead and forced myself to do them today! (I also haven’t applied any cuticle balm for like 3 months so be gentle, lol.)
I started with three coats on everything but my accent nail of my favorite polish, Literary Lacquers I Heard The Bells. Originally, I was planning to do a gold and black version of this mani but then I got too lazy to mess around with nail vinyls. Instead, I painted my accent nails with one coat of Cirque Colors Memento Mori and then used a cosmetic sponge to apply a glitter gradient with I Heard The Bells. I used a dab of top coat to apply some gold seashells and then finished everything up with a coat of Out The Door.
Like I mentioned, I haven’t gotten much of a chance to get out and shoot lately but I’ll leave you guys with a few recent photos I took. You can keep up with my on snapchat (@mercurialmagpie but I may get a new username soon), my photography facebook page, my blog facebook page, instagram and twitter. Until next time, thanks for taking the time out of your day to read my ramblings. 🙂
