I love monthly polishes from brands- it’s a way to try out something new and fun each month without breaking the bank. Aliquid Lacquer‘s ongoing monthly When In Rome collection has been home to some really excellent polishes and I have the next one to show you today!
Aliquid Lacquer Ludi Romani is described as a dark magenta jelly with red, purple, blue and gold glitter and gold micro flakies. I used two coats along with Out The Door top coat for the photos here. The formula was fantastic- thick enough to have a good enough glitter density with no fishing but thin enough to easily glide onto the nail. AND SO PRETTY! Here’s some information about the inspiration from the maker:
The Ludi Romani or “Roman Games” were an ancient celebration of Jupiter, the king of the gods. They were originally celebrated after great military victories, but later became an annual occurrence when the army returned home in September. Originally only one day long, they were stretched to sixteen days by the end of the first century B.C.
The festival included a special feast where statues of the gods were placed around a banquet table, and priests ate the meal on the gods’ behalf. But the highlight of the Games was the athletic competition, including chariot races, footraces, boxing, beast hunting and dancing. There were also several days of theatrical performances. Greek-style drama was first performed in Rome at the Ludi Romani.
Overall, this is really unique and an excellent berry shade for fall. If you’d like to pick Ludi Romani up for yourself, it’s available now in the Aliquid Lacquer shop.
What do you think of this shade? Have you tried any polish from Aliquid Lacquer before? Let me know in the comments!
