A blogger friend of mine recently found out that I did not own the famous (original) Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. Admittedly, I’d picked it up in the store when it was still available and decided not to get it- Kellie Gonzo told me I HAD to try it on my nails so she actually sent me an extra bottle she’d picked up (she’s awesome, go follow her if you aren’t already!).
This shade was the subject of a bit of controversy lately- I talked about it in my post on the new Sally Hansen Quick Brick (which got the same treatment but wasn’t as loved as Pacific Blue) but basically, they discontinued the old shade and replaced it with something not as good/not the same but kept the same name, which understandably upset a lot of people.
For this mani, I began with three coats of KBShimmer PT Young Thing on my accent nail as I always love pairing blue and silver together. Once it was dry, I used some chevron vinyls (these were from Vinyl It Up) and applied Pacific Blue on top. On my other nails, I used two coats of Sally Hansen Pacific Blue. I then finished everything up with Out The Door top coat.
Overall, I think I can see why this is so loved now. It was nearly a one coater and the formula was fantastic! I was going to write “especially for a drugstore brand” but no- for ANY brand! What do you think of this mani? Do you own the original Pacific Blue? Let me know in the comments!
