Summer (and the heat that comes along with it) is in full swing (I accidentally typed ‘spring’ instead of swing there at first, haha!) and today I have the newest seasonal release from Black Dahlia Lacquer to share with you!
The Black Dahlia Lacquer Lights And Brights Collection releases tomorrow in their shop and consists of 10 total shades. I used Out The Door top coat for the photos below. To save some time- the formulas on all of these were incredible. Perfect consistency and easy to apply. One thing to note is that due to the longer stem on the Black Dahlia Lacquer brushes, you have to take care with what angle you hold it at while polishing as there is a tendency for extra polish from the top to slide on down and right onto your nail. Let’s take a look!
Black Dahlia Lacquer Water Violet is described as a maroon-leaning violet crelly with silver micro glitter, micro flakes shifting from green to blue, glass flecks that shift from purple to blue to green with a slight multi-chrome shift to blue/violet/gold. Two coats. Love the glass flecks!
Black Dahlia Lacquer Swamp Lily is described as a sky blue holo with glass flecks that shift from silver to gold. Two coats, although next time I would either do three or use a ridge filling base coat as it accentuated my ridged nails a bit. I realized I was holding my breath as I was painting this onto my nails- it’s just that beautiful! Definitely a must have.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Fairy Moss is described as a sand crelly with white shimmer and holographic silver micro glitter. Two coats. This is maybe not the most flattering shade on me but I do not even care, it is so beautiful I already know that I am going to wear it all the time!
Black Dahlia Lacquer Water Poppy is described as a royal purple holo with aqua glass flecks and red micro glitter. Two coats. My favorite kind of purple- I was glad to see some darker shades!
Black Dahlia Lacquer Lace Aloe is described as a dark teal holo with blue shimmer. Two coats. Another stunning must-have. The shimmer gives it an almost metallic look that’s really cool.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Red Spike Cactus is described as a bright red crelly with copper micro glitter, bronze flakies and glass flecks that shift from gold to blue-green. Two coats but you could easily get away with one. It does dry somewhat matte so top coat is a must. Pretty shade but not a standout compared to the others. My camera had a hard time with this one! I’d say the full hand swatch is most color-accurate.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Spanish Bluebell is described as a periwinkle blurple with a scattered holo finish that is packed with red shimmer, and white, red, silver and sapphire micro glitter and flakes. Two coats but you could honestly get away with one. This is super gorgeous- the kind of finish that can start to look frosty if not executed perfectly- but this one is perfection. I wanted to get a sun shot of this one but this occurred.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Rain Daisy is described as a white crelly with a mix of dark yellow, magenta, periwinkle and teal hexes of varying sizes, and a smattering of larger aqua dots. Two coats. I’m not usually a fan of white crellies but I actually really loved this one! Great formula and super pretty combination of colors.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Sapphire Petunia is described as a dark, brilliant blue crelly with navy, indigo and purple flakies, and violet glitter, with a slight multi-chrome shift to green/red/violet. Two coats. Vampy and beautiful.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Gray Anemone is described as a neutral blue-gray crelly with violet to blue shifting glass flecks, and silver, and green to aqua shifting micro glitter. Two coats. The glass flecks and micro glitter in this make it super unique and give it a twinkling look that’s really pretty!
Overall, I am beyond impressed by this entire collection. Each polish I put on I fell more and more in love with and at the end had such a hard time choosing one to actually wear for a few days as a full mani. I think that this is absolutely one of the most creative newer brands out there at the moment and I cannot wait to see what else they do in the future. Again, this collection releases tomorrow (July 3rd) in their shop if you’d like to pick it up for yourself!
What do you think of this collection? Which shade is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
