I use sugar scrubs a lot- both on my hands (especially before and after swatch sessions) and as an all-over scrub in the shower. They’re great for exfoliation and feel super luxurious on the skin. Plus, they make amazing gifts and are really cheap to make.
I’ll be sharing the recipe for this particular scrub that I made but the general ratio for sugar scrubs is 2 parts sugar, one part oil (+ fragance or essential oil or any special additions). If you want a scrub with a finer texture, you can use less raw sugar and more white sugar. You can also up the oil amount or change the type of oil to fit your preference. This particular recipes makes a coarser scrub more on the dry side which I prefer for body scrubs- if I was making this for a hand scrub I’d probably increase the oil a bit.
What You’ll Need
Makes 8 oz of sugar scrub
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup sugar in the raw
- 1/4 cup coconut oil (melted to it’s liquid form)
- Essential oil (optional, I used a mix of Vanilla and Pomegranate)
1. Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well with a spoon.
Yep, it’s that easy! You can play around with adding brown sugar, different oils and things like tea or fruit zest if you want to get really fancy but these are ridiculously easy to make.
