I love wearing themed polish on holidays so I always get a little excited when brands start releasing their holiday collections! Today I have a new duo to share with you from Black Dahlia Lacquer for the 4th of July!
Black Dahlia Lacquer Red Hot Sparks is described as a festive cherry red crelly. Two coats but you could really get away with one. The formula was good, a little on the thin side but easy to work with. It’s definitely more on the pink side of red on me.
Black Dahlia Lacquer Freedom is described as a full coverage navy holographic glitter with accents of silver, white and red, and a sprinkling of miniature silver stars that also doubles as a top coat, pairing nicely with Red Hot Sparks. Two coats.
The formula was on the thick side. The consistency was one where usually I’d have no trouble applying it as long as I used a thin coat- however, the stem on the brush is longer than usual and has a tendency to drip extra product down from the top as you are painting which made it difficult to do a thin coat. I know I mention this issue with the brush on every BD review but it’s really the only negative to me in an otherwise really impressive brand. I know that the longer brush is a necessity for this bottle shape so I know it’s something that can’t be changed- I just feel it’s important to mention because for me, it does effect application. However, the colors are always gorgeous enough that it’s worth it.
Overall, I think this is a great duo and I’m always happy to see new releases from this brand, they’re always creative. Again, this duo releases today (June 26th) in their shop if you’d like to pick it up for yourself!
What do you think of this duo? Have you tried anything from Black Dahlia Lacquer before? Let me know in the comments!
