Welcome to Dupe or No Dupe, the series where I pull out colors from my collection that look the same in the bottle and we find out if they’re the same….or just similar? Up today is a special edition- with the release of the new Zoya Island Fun and Paradise Sun collections, there were requests to compare them to some older Zoya shades. Today we’ll be looking at Zoya Selene vs. Zoya Giovanna, Zoya Jace vs. Zoya Tilda, Zoya Tahlia vs. Zoya Ling and Zoya Demetria vs. Zoya Rocha
First up, Zoya Selene vs. Zoya Giovanna! Photo shows two coats of each polish & Out The Door top coat. Selene is on the pinkie & middle finger and Giovanna is on the ring and index.
Verdict: These two are pretty dang similar. Giovanna is just a touch of a lighter green but I really don’t think you need both in your collection. Selene had a better formula, Giovanna was too much on the thin side for my preference. The finish is slightly different as well. These aren’t completely color accurate but I wanted to show how the camera captured them both without any individual tweaking.
Next up is Zoya Jace vs. Zoya Tilda! Photo shows two coats of each polish & Out The Door top coat. Jace is on the pinkie & middle finger and Tilda is on the ring and index.
Verdict: Not dupes at all- Tilda is much lighter and brighter than Jace. Between the two, Tilda has a much better and less thin formula.
Next, let’s take a look at Zoya Tahlia vs. Zoya Ling! Photo shows two coats of each polish & Out The Door top coat. Tahlia is on the pinkie & middle finger and Ling is on the ring and index.
Verdict: Ling is much more blue and Tahlia is a true teal. Tahlia had a slightly thicker and better formula than Ling. Definitely not dupes! Tahlia is more green in person but again, I didn’t want to color edit just one of the two colors since I’m comparing them here so make sure to check out actual swatches of it.
Lastly, let’s take a look at Zoya Demetria vs. Zoya Rocha! Photo shows two coats of each polish & Out The Door top coat. Demetria is on the pinkie & middle finger and Rocha is on the ring and index.
Verdict: Not even close! Rocha is must more orange toned than Demetria and has a better, thicker formula consistency. It is still a bit streaky at two coats, however.
What do you think about these comparisons? Let me know in the comments! And if you’d like to see even more comparisons to older colors I don’t own- Polish And Paws did an awesome comparison post!
