For someone wanting to maintain a consistent nail length, threats disguising themselves as innocent household chores are everywhere. Washing the dishes, taking laundry out of the washer, opening nail mail boxes packaged with a little too much tape and (worst of all) washing your hair.
I originally heard about shampoo brushes in one of the facebook groups from a girl who’d found it helped immensely with avoiding nail breaks while shampooing. When it was shortly after recommended by a friend for a second purpose (really getting the special shampoo into the scalp to help with psoriasis), I had to see what all the fuss was about and ordered one on Amazon
. I figured at just under $4, it couldn’t hurt.
Initially, it looked a little funny to me because it reminded me of the brushes I have for shampooing my dog. But hey, if it works for them, has to work for us, right? To use, I apply a bit of shampoo onto my head and disburse it around with my hands first. Then, I use the shampoo brush to sort of scrape at my scalp all over in short, straight motions.
It feels AMAZING! Like someone washing your hair for you at the salon but ten times better! Even my boyfriend loves it- in fact, the one I have shown here in the photos is the second one I recently just ordered because he’s stolen mine. It really feels like it helps get my scalp super clean as well- when I would use my nails there was always a bit of hesitation to really, really scrub because I was so afraid of breaking my nails.
Like I said, I purchased mine on Amazon but you could possibly find these locally as well. I highly recommend them! Time will tell if it helps out with my psoriasis but even if not, it feels so great that I would continue using it anyway.
Have you tried a shampoo brush before? Which activity usually ends up in broken nails most often for you? Let me know in the comments!
