So, I have pretty much completed my move to wordpress! I am still waiting for Bloglovin’ to update my feed so hopefully it will start pushing my feed out to you guys again soon. In case you missed it, I have an ongoing giveaway that started yesterday!
I have really come to enjoy the Literary Lacquers brand over the past year- Amy creates shades inspired by literature that are always unique and beautiful. I have her newest collection for you today, and I think it may have my favorite inspiration yet!
The Literary Lacquers Magic And Mysteries collection releases on March 16th and consists of 8 shades (one was mistakenly left out of my package but is on it’s way now, so keep an eye out in a couple weeks for swatches of Menolly Rosabelle D’Artigo) inspired by books in the fantasty genre. I used Out The Door top coat for the photos below. Let’s take a look!
Literary Lacquers Mirror Of Galadriel is described as a silver linear mega glitter holo. Three coats. The formula was flawless, as usual. This is inspired by Lord of the Rings by J. R. R. Tolkien.
When ORLY Mirrorball came out, I said right away that it reminded me of the exact kind of polish that Literary Lacquers is known for. Come to find out, she was actually working on Mirror Of Galadriel prior to Mirrorball being released! I thought it’d be fun to compare the two and see which one was blingier (especially since a lot of you guys have been asking me for more comparison/dupe posts!), so here’s three coats of each:
The photos pretty much speak for themselves- when it comes to Literary Lacquers Mirror Of Galadriel vs Orly Mirrorball, the LitLac is much blingier and less grey. Still, I commend Orly for branching out and taking their cue from indies! But definitely buy the LitLac.
Literary Lacquers Octarine is described as a lilac linear holo with glass flecks and flakies. Three coats. The formula was wonderful, not too thick or thin. This is inspired by Terry Pratchett’s Discworld. This has such a lovely, light twinkling quality to it.
Literary Lacquers Flickum Bicus is described as a red-orange shimmer with blue flakies/glass flecks. Three thin coats but you could get away with two thicker ones. The formula was wonderfully smooth. This is inspired by Jim Butcher’s Dresden Files. I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel about this one but once I got it on my nails I fell in love. The blue glass flecks really make this polish special!
Literary Lacquers Cast From Stormhold is described as a red-purple with gold flakies and silver glass fleck. Three coats. The formula was good, no complaints. This is inspired by Stardust by Neil Gaiman. This one is really unique, definitely one of my favorites!
Literary Lacquers Virgin Huntress is described as a bright blue glass fleck/flakie. Three coats. The formula was a great consistency and went on smoothly. This is inspired by Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley.
Literary Lacquers Felix Felicis is described as a nude with gold flakies and glass flecks. Three coats. The formula was great, easy to apply and control. This is inspired by the Harry Potter books by J.K. Rowling. I was so excited to see a polish inspired by Harry Potter in this collection! I’ve talked a bit before about it being one of my very first fandoms and it always will have a special place in my heart.
Literary Lacquers Avada Kedavra is described as a black matte base packed with gold and green glitter. Two coats. The formula was wonderful, thick enough to stay where you put it but not so much so that application is difficult. This is also inspired by Harry Potter. I have this shown both with and without top coat, it looks more eeeevil matte for sure but I think I prefer it a bit more glossy.
Overall, this is another standout collection from the brand. The inspiration is awesome, the colors are beautiful and the formulas are divine. I also like to see that Literary Lacquers is always keeping things fresh with new finishes and not just sticking with the same thing over and over. Again, this collection releases March 16th at noon mountain time in her shop, so make sure to set yourself a reminder to pick up your favorites. I’m not even saying “if” this time because these are impossible to resist.
What do you think of this collection? Which shade is your favorite? Let me know in the comments! And because you guys have been asking me for more Mugen…here’s a double dose from midway through my swatch session, napping:
