There are a couple of things I’m not always fond of- pastel/spring shades and matte shades (unless it’s putting a matte top coat over a glitter jelly, of course). So when the Zoya Naturel Satins collection was announced, I had mixed feelings- they didn’t look like something I’d fall in love with, but Zoya has a knack for making me re-think my tastes, because I thought the same thing about the original Naturel collection before I saw it in person and now those are some of my most re-worn shades.
I’m glad I kept an open mind because there are some real pretty colors in this 6 piece set! These are designed to be worn without top coat and dry to a satin finish. I’ve shown them that way here, but the satin finish isn’t completely what I think of when I hear satin- Adventures In Acetone has a macro showing them in their natural finish, with top coat and with matte top coat that shows it really nicely.
The formula on all six was pretty similar- they were a touch on the thick side but not too difficult to apply. First coat goes on streaky, the second evens it up and makes it pretty opaque and the third helps even out some self-leveling issues, although I felt like even with the third coat there was still some lack of self-leveling which was kind of a bummer. It was more apparent in person than in my photos. Let’s take a look!
Zoya Leah is described as a lavender tinged taupe.
Zoya Rowan is described as a creamy suede taupe.
Zoya Sage is described as a mossy sage green.
Zoya Tove is described as a misty slate grey.
Zoya Brittany is described as a rose mauve cream.
Zoya Ana is described as a light toasted almond.
Overall, I feel that the colors in this collection lean to the neutral/not-quite-pastel enough for me to like them a lot more than I thought I would. I wish that they’d leveled a little better but I will probably wear them again with top coat, which should help. These are available now on Zoya’s website if you want to pick them up for yourself.
What do you think of this collection? Planning to grab any? Let me know in the comments!
