Aliquid Lacquer is a favorite brand of mine and I was really excited to hear that she recently created a six-piece collection inspired by lesser-known Roman goddesses that is exclusive to Gloss48!
If you don’t know already, Gloss 48 is a beauty flash sale website that works mainly with indie brands. They frequently work with indie nail polish brands to create site exclusives (I’ve reviewed a few in the past) which usually turn out pretty cool. Sorry that my nails are a bit on the shorter-than-usual side, I was planning to wait a bit to swatch these so they could grow out a bit more but I couldn’t resist them after staring at the bottles on my desk for a few days. Let’s take a look!
Aliquid Lacquer Bellona is described as a rusty red holo with green and blue shimmers. I used two coats here along with top coat. The formula was flawless, not too thick or thin and went on so easily. Hooooooly crap. This was one of those polishes that as soon as I put one coat on, I wanted to dump a giant bottle into my bathtub and bathe in it. Is that weird? You get that feeling too sometimes, right? No? Just me? Well, then. (It’d probably be really difficult to clean out after, admittedly.)
Aliquid Lacquer Feronia is described as a mossy green with gold, copper and red flecks and shimmer. I used two coats here along with top coat but it was nearly a one-coater. The formula was good, a little on the thin side but as long as you don’t overload the brush it’s easy to control with no cuticle flooding. No pictures can do this justice! I wasn’t expecting to love this so much so it was first up in my swatch session and I wanted to wear it forever once it was on. Made me feel like I was painting an enchanted forest onto my nails! (Note: the bottle and brush shot turned out way lighter than the actual polish is, the swatch photos are the color accurate ones.)
Aliquid Lacquer Carmenta is described as a smoky taupe with orange and red shimmer, blue flecks and holo microglitter. I used two coats here along with top coat. The formula was great, not too thick or thin and easy to apply. When looking at this in the bottle, I was thinking that I was not going to like it on me but once I got it on I fell in love. Aliquid always does that to me. #stopjudgingabookbyitscoverkirby
Aliquid Lacquer Libitina is described as a dark indigo scattered holo with purple/red/gold flecks. I used two coats here along with top coat. The formula was wonderful, not too thick or thin and went on easily. This polish just took my breath away as I applied it, it’s so simple at first glance but so complex up close. Love it.
Aliquid Lacquer Angerona is described as an off-white crelly with brown, copper, gold and matte blue glitter, plus some “hidden” iridescent blue glitter and shimmer. I used three coats here along with top coat, although I probably could have stopped at two. The formula was good, a little on the thin side but applied easily as long as you don’t overload the brush. This was so pretty in person!
Aliquid Lacquer Egeria is described as a teal/magenta/silver glitterbomb in a teal jelly. I used three coats here along with top coat. The formula was good, a bit thinner than her usual jellies (which I’ve heard a couple people think were thick but I always thought they were perfect) but still easy to apply. I did have to fish for the big circles but they were pretty easy to get out by leaving the bottle upside down for a few minutes before painting. This polish is so ridiculously beautiful. It’s like a deep pond full of glittering jewels. I did have to color edit the photos since teal is a pain and always wants to be blue. Stop it, teal- you’re gorgeous just as you are, stop always trying to be something you’re not.
Overall, I think this is a wonderful collection that really shows off the brand’s strengths and unique style as a whole. I don’t often gush like this over a collection but I really enjoyed all of these so much and I’m really proud to have been able to work with Aliquid Lacquer as she’s grown from being a new brand to creating such incredible products. Again, these are available at Gloss48 exclusively and currently retail for $11.00 each, so head on over if you want to grab some for yourself!
What do you think of this collection? Which shade is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
