Serum No. 5 has been on the ball lately with creating awesome new stuff! Today I have a really fun polish to show you- one of her new Reflective Multichrome Toppers!
These are really interesting (there are 3 total in the collection, I believe)- not only are they toppers using the awesome new multichrome metallic flakies but they also have the reflective bits in them like her polish Flashing Lights does. I had never tried that one out before so I was excited to check these out! The reflective bits really only come out to play in a dark room with direct light on them! In normal lighting they look like a pretty silver shimmer.
Serum No. 5 has some tips for how best to use these new toppers- top coat is not recommended as it dulls the reflectiveness. To get the best reflectiveness you should use these as just one coat over naked nails. If you layer them to be opaque, apply top coat prior to applying the last layer of the topper. EDIT: Actually, there was a typo in the information I got before swatching- it should be matte top coat, not regular top coat for the best effect if layering! Can’t wait to try this out again that way 🙂
I’m not a big fan of my naked nails (psoriasis makes fun, terrible looking ridges, yay) and aesthetic-wise I think these look better layered the majority of the time. However, I still wanted to show off their full potential so I took a video of one coat of Power over naked nails and included a clip at the end of 4 coats, which I actually think shines a bit better!
I took these clips meaning to put them on instagram (+ thus crop out the vertical video stuff) but uhhhh I accidentally put them on my computer and couldn’t figure out how to get them back onto my phone (file was huge) so youtube it is! Again, this is in a dark room with a direct flash light on the nails. It doesn’t shine as much as the Flashing Lights top coat but that’s to be expected since it’s mixed in with the flakies in this topper. Let’s take a look!
Serum No. 5 Power is a multichrome flakie reflective topper (can be layered or built to opacity) and shifts from purple to gold to green. I used four coats here (but you could probably do three in regular lighting) with Out The Door top coat (on the third layer, as instructed).
Overall, I like that what she’s putting out are not just the plain flakie toppers that a lot of brands are doing right now (those are nice, too, don’t get me wrong- it’s just that there are so many of them out at the moment). The reflectiveness is subtle but cool and they would be really fun to wear from time to time to blow the minds of non-hardcore-polish fans (who already go crazy over holos, can you imagine this?). Again, Power & the rest of the collection releases in her shop on 01/16 at 12 PM PST!
What do you think of this polish? Have you tried out anything from Serum No. 5 before? Let me know in the comments!
