Fair Maiden Polish is one of those brands that came strong onto the indie scene from the start and has been putting out some impressive stuff! Today I have a fun collection for Valentine’s Day to share with you!
The Addicted To Love (okay, the song is totally stuck in my head now!!) collection consists of three beautiful shades- Total Eclipse Of The Heart, Careless Whisper and Eternal Flame and will be released in the Fair Maiden Polish shop on 01/31. Let’s take a look!
Fair Maiden Polish Total Eclipse Of The Heart is a raspberry red holo. Two coats and the formula was great, easy to apply with a wonderful consistency. This color was super flattering on me and I was so sad that I had swatched it early on in my swatch session because I wanted to wear it forever. So, uh, after the session I put it right back on as a full mani, haha! It’s a touch more purple-leaning in person, my camera photographed more of it’s red side.
Coincidentally, this is one of my favorite songs to sing at Karaoke. Other Mercurial Magpie standards include Baby Got Back and Bust A Move.
So, the photos above are how the polish looks to me in my blog lighting, in my bathroom, kitchen, (probably sun but we haven’t had any) etc. Here’s a crappy cell phone photo that I took at work (after chopping my nails down, haha) that shows the color in low lighting, it pulls a lot more purple there:
Fair Maiden Polish Careless Whisper is a gorgeous light pink with pink flecks and blue shimmer. Three coats and the formula was good, a little streaky on the first coat (which is typical of pastels) but additional coats evened it out nicely. I did have to color edit the full hand swatch photo as this wanted to photograph really purple leaning for some reason.
Also, I seriously cannot hear this song anymore without thinking of the Sexy Sax Man video. (The best part- “He hates George Michael! *BOOOOOO*”)
If you have Fair Maiden Polish Once Upon A Dream and are wondering how they compare, I took a photo of them side by side in the bottle (Careless Whisper is on the left):
Fair Maiden Polish Eternal Flame is described as a micro flakey color shifting topper. One coat over black and the formula was wonderful, easy to apply and the perfect consistency. I’m glad I was able to get home right before the natural lighting went away because this is really prettiest in the shade!

Overall, I think this is a wonderful collection. Fair Maiden Polish has managed to take traditional Valentine’s Day shades and give them a little extra pop- they really do a good job at that kind of thing and it’s super refreshing. Again, this collection releases at noon CST on January 31st in their shop. They have become super popular really quickly so I would recommend setting an alarm to not miss the launch just in case! If you don’t have access to an alarm, don’t worry because these songs are probably going to be stuck in your head reminding you of the release until at least then.
What do you think of this collection? Do you own any Fair Maiden Polish yet? Any shades by them that you’re dying to get? Let me know in the comments!
