Okay, to before we get started with the mani, I just had to take a moment to thank Sarah of Tunay Na Mahal for the amazing present she sent me! My post about China Glaze Fairy Dust is one of my most popular, spawning it’s own hashtag on IG and bringing fans of sparkle and glitter everywhere together. Sarah had a custom button and bumper sticker made for me, along with a cute Mugen magnet! I’m definitely going to have to wear the button to a local meetup I’m attending soon, and I actually hung the sticker up above my polish area on my desk. Thanks again, Sarah!
Second thing, then I promise we’ll get on to the nails! In a facebook group yesterday, there was a thread about how many polish brands your significant other can name….so, I decided to start recording and ask Jed (sorry that I’m a bit loud, I didn’t realize how close I was to the phone). So, yeah….he totally failed. Embarrassingly so. He didn’t even get the brand name of the polishes he did a review on! Shameful.
Okay, on to the mani. I’m a huge fan of the Hunger Games trilogy- I got into the books right before the first movie came out and I’ve been dying for the newest one to come out- Mockingjay Part 1! Tonight is the ‘midnight’ premiere, although our theatre’s showing is at 8 PM. I really like that the trend has been to do that more and more lately. Don’t get me wrong, it’s fun to watch a movie at midnight but I’m getting old, so I’ll take an earlier showing when I can!
Last year was really fun- our local theater’s staff dressed up as some of the characters and held a raffle before the movie. I’m hoping they do something like that again this year! I really liked the nail art I did for the Catching Fire premiere, so I wanted to do something similar this year. I know, I’m unoriginal. Sue me. Actually, don’t. Please.
I began with a sponge gradient on each nail using KBShimmer Chick Me Out, China Glaze Riveting and Zoya Blaze. Once that was dry, on my index and middle fingers I used black acrylic paint and my Winstonia nail art brush to paint on a quote from the book and movie trailer. Y’all, we are just going to ignore that my free hand word painting could, uh….use some work, to put it kindly. You know what? We’re going to say it’s ‘the odds are never in our favor’-esque graffiti. There we go. An excuse for everything. 😉
My ring finger and pinkie were stamped using Konad Black and designs from the My Online Shop JR-2 plate and the Moyou London Suki 08 plate. I finished everything up with a coat of Out The Door.
I hope you guys like my design, even if it’s a bit rehashed from last year! I know Mockingjay wasn’t many people’s favorite book of the trilogy, but I really enjoyed the last two movies and I think plot-wise that Mockingjay is going to be much more entertaining as a movie than it was a book (not to say that *I* disliked it but I know most people did).
Are you planning to check out the movie? Going to tonight’s premiere? Let me know in the comments!
