As we all know, new indie brands can really be hit or miss, so I am usually a little hesitant to try a new brand out. However, I was so impressed by Fair Maiden Polish that I had to try them out as soon as I could fit it into my schedule (which I unfortunately couldn’t do for their launch collection which looked incredible- be sure to check those out in their shop, too)!
Looking at their website, labels, etc., you’d have really no idea that they were a new brand. It seems that they really took the time to do their homework and plan things out properly and they have been receiving a ton of positive buzz around the blogosphere right out of the gate!
Here’s a little about the brand from their website (and I always like seeing new brands out of Minnesota, I was named after Kirby Puckett after all!):
Fair Maiden Polish is based in the Twin Cities of Minnesota. The creators of Fair Maiden Polish are long time friends Sarah & Adrienne. As young teenagers, these gals bonded over their passion for clothes, shopping, boys, make-up and of course NAIL POLISH! 20 years later and they have found themselves creating their own brand! Sarah’s background in interior design and zest for color combinations inspires many of the best Fair Maiden Polish creations. Adrienne’s entrepreneurial background and obsession for perfection gives this brand the extra pizzazz that makes this indie polish a keeper!
I was sent the Baby It’s Cold Outside collection to review which consists of four shades- ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas, Merry Plum Berry And Bright, Sleigh Bells In The Snow and The Stars Are Brightly Shining. Their inspiration for this collection was non-traditional colors for holiday but with familiar words and lyrics from holiday songs and christmas carols for that sentimental touch. This collection is available to purchase now and will be until the end of the year (and I have a coupon code for you, too, so be sure to keep reading until the end). Let’s take a look!
Fair Maiden Polish ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas is described as a deep, blue violet jelly with a hint of violet subtly peeking through its’ depth. I used two coats for the below photos along with Out The Door. The formula was wonderful, not too thick or thin, went on easy and no staining.
Fair Maiden Polish Merry Plum Berry And Bright is described as a medium plum holographic polish with a flash of gold. I used two coats for the below photos along with Out The Door. The formula was great, more on the thin side than the sick side but very easily to control with no pooling as long as you make sure your brush isn’t overloaded. Holy crap, guys. You know it takes something special for me to be impressed by a holo, and this has it. Pictures cannot do this justice, especially with capturing that gold flash, it’s super pretty. This is just a touch warmer purple in person, closest to the bottle shot.
Fair Maiden Polish Sleigh Bells In The Snow is described as a silvery-white with a scattered holo and ice blue shimmer flecks. I used two coats for the below photos along with Out The Door. I probably could have gone with three for 100% opacity but two was enough for me and I didn’t want to cover up the pretty twinkles! The formula was great, not too thick or thin and went on very easily. I’m really in love with this shade- sometimes these sort of polishes can end up looking frosty but this avoided that and instead just looks so delicate and beautiful, like the sun glinting off freshly fallen snow.
Fair Maiden Polish The Stars Are Brightly Shining is described as a fiery glitter loaded with coppery golden goodness. I used three coats for the below photos along with Out The Door. It was pretty opaque at two but I still had some vnl right at the edge of my nail so I did a third coat. The formula was great, not too thick or thin and very easy to control. I really love how this is not the typical gold shade you seen in polish! It’s also one of those shades that looks SO different in different lighting situations, kinda cool!
Overall, I was really impressed by these polishes and I definitely recommend this brand! What I really love about this collection is that even though they aren’t traditional holiday colors, they still scream holiday/winter to me and I love that! I would recommend that you keep an eye on Fair Maiden Polish, they are going places and I can’t wait to see what they come out with next!
If you want to pick up any of these shades, you can get 20% off using my coupon code- MAGPIE20! They were so nice to set that coupon code up for my readers and you can use it through November 30th!
What do you think of these shades? Which one is your favorite? Have you tried anything from this brand yet? Let me know in the comments!
