I was not yet into polish with Zoya originally released their Matte Velvet collection, so I was definitely excited to hear they’d be re-releasing it! I’ve heard from many people that these shades are their absolute favorite mattes, so I was definitely intrigued.
The formula on all of these was quite similar- not too thick or thin and easy to control. I did not use top coat for these swatches (of course) and used two coats of each. Let’s take a look!
Zoya Dovima is described as a shimmering black matte velvet.
Zoya Posh is described as a shimmering crimson matte velvet.
Zoya Harlow is described as a shimmering wine matte velvet.
Zoya Savita is described as a shimmering plum matte velvet. This one had a little bit of a skunky smell to it- it didn’t smell once it was dry and it wasn’t super strong or unbearable (and I’m sensitive to smells) but thought I’d mention it. This is waaaay more purple and less blue than it looks here- I attempted to color edit it (which I did do for Harlow which also wanted to photograph more blue) but just couldn’t get it to look right, so I left it as it was.
Zoya Veruschka is described as a shimmering evergreen matte velvet.
|I had to macro at least one of these so you could see how cool it looks close up!|
Zoya Loredana is described as a shimmering gunmetal gray matte velvet.
Overall, I think these are a great, high quality set of matte polishes and I can see now why everyone loves them so much! I don’t always reach for mattes (unless we’re talking matted jellies!) but when I do, I’ll be reaching for these. They aren’t just flat mattes, they have this cool matte…shimmer (?) to them. I know that sounds contradictory but I don’t know how else to describe it!
What do you think? Do you own any polishes from this collection already? Planning to pick any more up? Let me know in the comments!
