You guys already know two things- Aliquid Lacquer is one of my favorite indie brands, and I love dogs. So, I’m really excited to get the chance to share something really awesome with you today- Alison of Aliquid Lacquer is the owner of a rescue dog, Trudy (the face of the Aliquid Lacquer logo).
Not only is Trudy a rescue dog, she’s a pit bull mix which is the most commonly found dog in shelters in the US. She’s created a special shade named Puppy Love which will only be available during the month of October (which is national Adopt A Shelter Dog Month). It will retail for $11 and $5 from every bottle will be donated to the ASPCA, which I think is incredible!
The vision of the ASPCA is “a humane community in which all animals are treated with respect and kindness.” Donations to the ASPCA support a variety of causes, including:
- Grants to shelters nationwide
- Spay/neuter and microchipping programs
- Adoption, fostering and relocation programs
- Investigation and seizure of abused animals
- Lobbying for anti-cruelty legislation
So, before the witch burners arrive- obviously my own current dog is not a shelter dog (Chows are often killed immediately when brought into shelters because they bond very closely with their first family and can often be difficult to rehome, especially with non-experienced owners. They also tend to be kennel aggressive when placed with many other dogs when they would be fine in a home. It’s very sad), but prior to Mugen, every dog I’ve had growing up was adopted from the shelter and they were all wonderful dogs. I do donate when I can and when it’s viable for us in the future money/experience-wise I really do want to try to rescue a chow.
Anyways, getting on to the polish-Aliquid Lacquer Puppy Love is a right teal with ethereal pink and gold flecks and a holographic shimmer. I used two coats for the below photos, along with Out The Door. The formula was incredible, one of the best of hers I’ve used so far! Not too thick or thin and very easy to control- I had to do no cleanup at all!
Overall, I think this is a wonderful polish for an excellent cause and I highly recommend that you pick it up! Even if it wasn’t a charity polish, it’s so incredibly gorgeous on it’s own that I think every person needs a bottle for their own collection. Alison’s goal is to raise $250 for the ASPCA, so every bottle helps!
If you haven’t shopped Aliquid Lacquer for awhile, she’s also got a brand new store website where you can earn loyalty points (called Pooch Points, how cute!) You can check it out here or at the links below. And sound off in the comments- what do you think of this polish?
