I hope you guys have enjoyed the last few posts on Serum No. 5! Today will be the last one for now, but I plan to purchase some other stuff when I have some funds so there will be more in the future for sure! Today I’m going to show you two nail art items from the brand & a fun matte top coat with a twist. Let’s get started!
So, in addition to polish, Serum No. 5 also sells a few different nail art items, including accessories! She has a ton of different types of studs (+ more) and sent me these cute gold hearts to try out! You can either apply these using nail glue (for a longer & stronger hold) or a bit of top coat (my preference, but I change my mani often so I don’t usually need them to last more than a day or two). I used a bit of top coat to apply these on top of Serum No. 5 Sunset Flare. This combination totally made me think of Sailor Venus!
She also recently launched her Cut It Out Nail Vinyls! Each sheet includes designs that can be used either as a decal (applied directly to the nail) or as a stencil (stuck on the nail, another color polish used on top & then removed). There are 5 sheets total (I definitely am going to need to grab the other ones!), I was sent the Queen Bee sheet & the Life’s A Beach set.
For the Queen Bee set (which includes straight lines, honeycombs, bees and crowns), I started with a base of Serum No. 5 Day Glow and carefully placed the honeycomb vinyls as stencils on my index and pinkie fingers and placed the bees as decals on my middle and ring fingers. I then used a coat of black polish on top of the stencils & removed them, finishing up with top coat.
These were so easy to use- they peeled up from the sheet easily and the honeycomb didn’t require much weeding as most of the decal part stayed on the sheet automatically. I had a bit of a fail with the honeycomb design which was my fault, not the vinyls! I didn’t quite stretch it far enough across my curved nails so the portion near the tip wasn’t completely flat and the polish kind of seeped through, grr. Still looks kind of cool, though!
For the Life’s A Beach set (which includes wavy lines, palm trees, dolphins and flowers), I began with a base of Serum No. 5 Just Add Water and applied the wavy lines as stencils on my index & pinkie fingers, the dolphin as a stencil on my ring finger and the palm tree as a stencil on my middle finger. I applied a coat of black polish over them, removed the vinyls and finished up with top coat. These both were so easy to use!
The last thing I have to share with you today is Serum No. 5 As A Matte-A Fact! This is a matte top coat but not just any matte top coat- it also includes tiny shimmery flakes for a bit of matte sparkle! This polish is best over cremes, so I decided to layer one coat of it over the design I created above with the queen bee vinyls!
Overall, these were three great and easy products to use to jazz up a manicure. I was really impressed by these & all of the polishes that I received from Serum No. 5. Everything was so easy to use and packaged nicely! I highly recommend this brand! Have you checked out this brand yet? Tried out any of these products? Let me know in the comments!
