I’ve got a new-to-me indie for you guys today! Killer Queen Varnish recently approached me after I’d checked out a few of her photos on instagram and asked if I wanted to take a look at her fall collection. Well, you know I love fall and all things Halloween, so of course I had to say yes!
Killer Queen Varnish is a fairly new indie but she’s already putting out some pretty neat stuff. The fall collection consists of five shades- Witchy Woman, Strange Love, Bad Moon Rising, Red Red Wine & Feed My Frankenstein. It is currently available for sale in her etsy shop. Let’s take a look!
Killer Queen Varnish Witchy Woman is described as full of black shards, small fuchsia hexes, a sparse amount of larger fuchsia dots for a little extra sparkle all in a dark purple jelly base. I used two coats for the below photos along with Gelous + Out The Door. The formula was great, not too thick or thin and most of the dots came out without fishing- I fished for just a couple. I personally think I would like this shade more if it were a bit less opaque- I really liked how it looked on the first coat but with the second you couldn’t really see any of the glitter from the first layer.
Killer Queen Varnish Feed My Frankenstein is described as a green crelly consisting of small black hexes and micro purple and grey hexes. I used two coats for the below photos along with Out The Door. The formula was very impressive, not too thick or thin and very easy to control.
Killer Queen Varnish Strange Love is described as a reddish-purple holographic nail polish. I used two coats for the below photos along with Out The Door. The formula was wonderful, perfect consistency and applied very easily. This is such a gorgeous shade!! It was also nearly opaque in one coat, so I think it might also work out for stamping (a theory I will test out at some point)!
Killer Queen Varnish Bad Moon Rising is described as a glitter topper containing black shards, orange hexes, small black hexes, and micro orange hexes in a clear base. I used one coat over Zoya Dove for the below photos along with Out The Door. The formula was great, the glitter all came out easily and the formula wasn’t too thick or thin. (The maker swatched this one over green, which I loved the look of- I just went with a grey base to show you something else.)
Killer Queen Varnish Red Red Wine is described as a polish full of ruby red micro glitters in a wine jelly base. I used two coats for the below photos along with Out The Door. The formula was great, not too thick or thin and applied easily. This color is so unbelievably gorgeous- it twinkles like a jewel on your nail!
Overall, I think this is a very strong collection from such a new brand and I’m excited to see what she’ll come out with in the future! Honestly, I’m always initially a little wary of trying out new brands because the quality can be all over the map, but these were so great. Witchy Woman was not to my personal taste but didn’t have any formula issues and I loved the other four, so I definitely recommend this brand.
What do you think? Which of these shades is your favorite? Any that you’re planning to pick up? Let me know in the comments! And if you’d like to check out any of her other offerings, be sure to click that shop link below!
