When In Doubt, Just Add Glitter

Feeling Blue with KBShimmer!

July 18, 2014 by The Mercurial Magpie 25 Comments

Hey, everyone! Recently the KBShimmer fan group on facebook was having a nail art contest, and I decided to give it a shot & I actually won, yay!

The theme was I’m Feeling Blue, and we could have that inspire us any way we wanted. Well, obviously feeling sad is what comes to mind first, but I didn’t want to do that. When I think of the color blue, what comes to mind first? You guys know where this is going! The ocean, of course!

I started with a base of KBShimmer In Bare Form (swatched here) on my index & middle fingers. On my index, I then used these silver seashells from Born Pretty Store as well as some white nail art pearls. I applied them by painting a coat of KBShimmer Clearly On Top (COT), then using nail art tweezers to place them and finished up by applying another coat of COT, OPI Alpine Snow & Zoya Charla to create a sideways gradient. I then sponged a little bit of KBShimmer I’ve Got A Crush On Blue (swatched here) on top of Charla.

On my ring and pinkie fingers, I applied two coats of Zoya Charla with one coat of I’ve Got A Crush On Blue on top. I then stamped using Konad White– a design from Moyou London Sailor 07 on my ring finger, and Messy Mansion MM21 on my pinkie. I finished all nails off with a coat of COT.

What do you think? What comes to mind when you think of the color blue? Let me know in the comments!
