Top 10 Must-Have Zoya shades – in anticipation of the Earth Day sale!

April 19, 2014 by The Mercurial Magpie 14 Comments

Hey, everyone! One of the best yearly sales is coming up soon, the Zoya Earth Day Sale (April 21-28)! I asked you guys on facebook if you’d be interested in seeing my suggestions for must-have shades and you said YES! I haven’t really done a post like this yet so I thought it’d definitely be fun!

I’ve only been into polish hardcore for a little over a year, so most of these may be newer zoya shades, but I own some nice old ones as well.

It’s definitely a favorite brand of mine- I find the formula is consistently good to great, the colors are innovative without crossing over the line of being ugly or too out there & they also do a wide variety of nice classic shades. It’s also my favorite bottle to pose with as a blogger, ha. (Is that weird?) Now if only they’d make a Kirby shade 😉

Note: all polish descriptions beside their names + non-swatch photos come directly from Zoya’s site! (I would encourage you to seek out blogger swatches though as I don’t find Zoya’s site photos to always be totally color accurate.)

TOP 10 ZOYA MUST-HAVE SHADES

Zoya Charla – a tropical blue sparkling metallic.

If I had to pick one and only one zoya polish everyone should have it would be Charla. There’s something so oceanic and sparkly and just gorgeous about this in person, swatches come close but you really have to see this one in person.

Zoya Rue – a full coverage boudoir blush cream.

There are two shades that made my top 10 list from the Naturel collection, and this one of them. I’ve never been one for nudes but I totally fell in love with this. It’s pink enough to not be a true nude but still extremely subtle and delicate on my nails.

Zoya Payton – a full coverage galactic cranberry with holographic glitter.

All of the polishes with similar finishes from zoya are gorgeous, but if I had to pick just one it’d be Payton. I’m a purple lover through and through (clearly) and the holographic glitter evokes the night sky before it gets totally dark. So pretty!

Zoya Caitlin – a smoky purple-tinged medium gray with smooth, opaque cream finish.

I was recently on a hunt for great grey undies (they seem to go so well under glitter toppers!) and saw this recommended over and over. Although the formula is a bit on the thin side, it’s totally worth it. It’s the perfect spot in between purple and grey that is just so flattering.

Zoya Faye – a bronzed mauve with purple and brown undertones flooded with bright gold sparkle.

One of my very first Zoyas! I picked this up in person at Ulta and just fell in love with the finish and how awesome/different it looked in different lighting. This polish definitely helped kick off my polish obsession. It was also one of my very first blog posts– so terrible now to look back at, ha!

Zoya Normani – a full coverage sable mauve cream.

The second shade that makes the list from the Naturel collection. I wasn’t crazy about this shade when I first swatched them but it’s really grown on me and I’ve worn it multiple times since then. Great classy toenail polish shade, too!

Zoya Megan – a full coverage taupe grey cream.

I bought this around the same time as Caitlin, for the same reason. Almost like a lighter version of it, it has the same great shade that’s nicely in between grey and purple.

Zoya Lotus – a very soft, dusty blue-toned amethyst purple with colorful shimmer that reflects pink, red and gold.

I haven’t worn this one as much as I should, but I’m still mesmerized by it every time I pick up the bottle. The shimmer and shift is strong but not too in-your face. A great work-safe color with a bit of punch.

Zoya Lael – a deep, saturated red-toned plum purple with a shiny cream finish.

I usually lean to the cooler purple shades but I’m so glad that I picked this one up! A rich, perfect plum.

Zoya Rebel – a full coverage blue sky metallic with a silver shimmer.

A surprise favorite from the recent Awaken collection, this blue is bright & fun and the shimmer keeps it interesting and unique!

Honorable Mentions:

These shades didn’t quite make it into the top 10 but came very close.

Zoya Robyn – a perfect turquoise cream. (Note: not sure if I agree with this- not green toned enough for turquoise for me.)

A great fun, bright blue. I love using this one under glitter toppers! It does stain my nails pretty bad, though, so watch out for that.

Zoya Sooki – a bright, clean, crisp, cool cherry red cream with a subtle jelly finish.

The perfect bright cherry red!

Zoya Tinsley – a full coverage rose gold foil metallic.

Similar in finish to Faye & Charla, the pink on this is so delicate and gorgeous and the shift is beautiful, especially in full sun! Another very old blog post featured this shade.

Zoya Wednesday – a faded dirty medium turquoise with green undertone and an opaque cream finish.

This kind of dusty mint green was everywhere last year but is still a must-have even if you have similar shades- it’s just different enough from it’s close dupes and is very flattering.

Zoya Zuza – a deep, saturated oceanic turquoise with gold and silver metallic shimmer and a foil-like finish.

Deliciously turquoise and unique, I adore this shade. Unfortunately, it’s another stainer so be careful! Why must the things we love hurt us so?!?

I hope you enjoyed this post & that it was helpful to you when selecting your picks from the sale! What are you planning to order? Let me know in the comments!
