Hey, everyone! So, I recently was provided these polishes to use in an upcoming guest post for KBShimmer (Exciting, right? I will be sure to let you guys know when it goes up!). I decided to also swatch them on their own here just in case, you know, you’ve been living under a rock and haven’t seen these yet. 😉
The spring collection consisted of 16 shades total (press release here) and 8 of those were creams. I was definitely excited to get ahold of these! Creams may not be the most exciting polishes but you need them for the days you aren’t feeling glitter, for nail art bases, gradients, stamping, etc. There are definitely some great shades here so let’s get started!
To avoid sounding like a broken record, the formula on all of these was pretty fantastic (any exceptions will be noted)- not too thick and thin but not so thin that you’re constantly flooding your cuticles. Ideal cream formula! I used the KBShimmer Clearly On Top top coat (that sounds so redundant…) for these photos. I plan to do a full review on that as well whenever I next get a break in my swatching schedule!
KBShimmer Pansy-Monium is a pansy purple cream with a slight red undertone. I used two coats for the below photos, although this was nearly a one coater if you’re very careful. I thought this one looked nice with an accent of KBShimmer Witch Way? (2 coats over Pansy-monium).
KBShimmer My Life’s Porpoise is a pale neutral grey. I used two coats for the below photos, although this was almost a one coater if you’re careful. I matched this one to an accent nail of KBShimmer Will Yule Marry Me? (2 coats on it’s own).
KBShimmer A Touch Of Glass is a light aqua mint cream. I used three coats for the below photos. It went on slightly patchy on the first coat but evened out nicely by the second. You could get away with two coats in regular lighting, I needed three under my lightbox lights. This one has a very subtle, pretty shimmer that I could not capture in my photos. Definitely my favorite of all the cream shades! I thought an accent nail of KBShimmer Laugh Myself Lily (one coat over A Touch Of Glass) looked perfect!
KBShimmer Sky Jinks is a medium blue cream with a hint of dustiness. I used two coats for the below photos, although this was also nearly a one coater if you’re careful. This is a gorgeous blue that is pretty unique in my collection! I matched this with one of my favorite glitterbombs, KBShimmer I Got A Crush On Blue (one coat over Sky Jinks).
KBShimmer Life Rose On is a bright pink with blue undertones. I used two coats for the below photos although it was almost a one coater. She described this as her perfect pink & I think it’s mine, too! I thought this would look nice with the pink glitter in KBShimmer Excuse Me, I Blurpled (two coats over Life Rose On).
KBShimmer Honeydew List is a dusty pastel green. I used three coats for the below photos although you could get away with two careful ones. A little patchy on the first coat but evened up nicely by the second. I feel kind of dumb because I didn’t get the pun at first but I caught it on the return trip.
KBShimmer Chick Me Out is a bright yellow cream. I used four coats for the below photos. This was the only one that I had some trouble with, but I can’t blame KBShimmer for that. It seems like every yellow cream I’ve ever tried has been patchy and a pain to apply, this one was no worse than any other I own. This did finally even out for me at four coats- I’d recommend a couple thin coats first and a slightly thicker coat to finish.
KBShimmer Eclipse is a true black cream. I used two coats for the below photos. Not much to say about it. It’s a black cream. It’s a good one! It’s very black. Everyone needs a good black in their collection! The first coat was a bit patchy but it evened out nicely by the second.
That’s it for today! Overall a really solid set of spring cremes that I think will be great for a wide variety of things or even just on their own! I can’t wait to see what KBShimmer has in store for us next, if you’d like some of your own, check out their website here. You can also keep up with them via facebook and instagram! Which of these shades is your favorite? Let me know in the comments!
