Hey, everyone! I’ve got a very KBShimmer-centric post for you today. We’ve got a couple of swatches first & then a quick review of a sugar scrub and cuticle oil pen. Let’s get started!
First up is KBShimmer Laugh Myself Lily. There were quite a few shades that tempted me from her spring collection but my wallet only allowed me to get one, and I think I made the right choice. KBShimmer describes this as a muted jade crelly with holographic hexes in gold, pink, sliver, lavender and blue. I used three coats for the below photo along with top coat.
As is usually the case with this brand, it applied easily and was the perfect consistency, not too thick or thin. I didn’t have to fish for any glitter although the blue circles seemed to always want to stick to the brush, so I did have to take extra care to get them off. My only small gripe is that I wish it had been a tiny bit less opaque so more of the first couple of coats could have sparkled through. Still pretty as it is, though!

Next is KBShimmer I Got A Crush On Blue which is described as a royal blue jelly with holographic glitters ranging from micro to extra large. This was one of the first polishes that really made me fall in love with this brand. Back when my blog was still a newborn I did some swatches that don’t really do it justice, so when I wore it recently I decided to re-photograph it. I used three coats with top coat here and the formula was perfection, no issues or gripes at all!
I also picked up two products I’d been itching to try for awhile. Readers who have been around awhile may recall my disappointment in the kbshimmer bath bombs, so I was a little hesitant to try another non-polish product out, but I’m glad that I did because I loved both of these!
The first product I purchased was the KBShimmer Cuticle Oil Pen in the Lemongrass scent. This is made of avocado oil as well as shea butter, apricot oil, wheat germ oil, evening primrose oil, argan oil, jojoba and olive oil. It also includes vitamin E and lemongrass essential oil with a bit of vanilla to sweeten the scent. This oil comes in a pen form (duh) that has a cap which makes it really nice, it can be easily thrown into your purse! You twist up the bottom of it to load the brush with the oil and then just paint it on!
I like that this format allows me to oil my cuticles without getting the pads of my fingers all greasy. The oil itself feels very nice, moisturizing and not too heavy. The scent is very pleasant, similar to the bath bomb of the same name- it definitely smells citrus-y but in a really earthy and pleasant way. I can barely smell the vanilla, only when I’m really trying to pick it out, so if you’re not a vanilla fan I don’t think you will mind this scent!
The other product I picked up was the KBShimmer Sugar Scrub in the Pink Sugar scent. You combine a small scoop of this product with water and use it to exfoliate your hands, it eventually kinda melts into a nice lotion. I found this product really luxurious and relaxing to use- it definitely feels really nice on your hands and leaves them nicely moisturized. I was a little concerned that the Pink Sugar scent would be too chemically sweet to me but it wasn’t at all. It’s definitely sweet, but not in an overwhelming or sickening way, I really like it.
|Mmm…I want to eat it. Is that bad?|
That’s it for today, folks! What do you think about these shades? Have you tried any of KBShimmer’s non-nail products? Let me know in the comments!
