Hi, everyone! So, if you’ve been around for a bit you know my love of fellow (& awesome!) blogger Aliquid‘s brand, Aliquid Lacquer! So, of course I have been excitedly waiting to see what she’s going to come up with next (previous favorites: Make A Wish from the Birthday Collection and Gargoyle from the Regifted Collection)!
Alison recently came out with her newest set of beautiful shades, the The Silmarillion Collection (based as any giant nerd like me knows off of the J.R.R. Tolkien book of the same name) collection and was kind enough to send me a few shades to show you guys! The shades I was sent were Hidden City, Shores Of Paradise, Nightingale’s Song & Devouring Wave. She was also awesome enough to set up a giveaway for her swatchers to share with you guys, so make sure to read through to the end for info on how to enter! Let’s take a look!
Aliquid Lacquer Hidden City ($10.00 for 15 ml/$4.50 for 5 ml) is a forest-green linear holographic polish with gold, copper and bronze flecks. Shown here is two coats with topcoat. The formula was fantastic, not too thick or thin and applied easily. I’m pretty picky with greens, and this gorgeous shade fits right in my sweet spot.
“…There was a deep way under the mountains delved in the darkness of the world by waters that flowed out to join the streams of Sirion; and this way Turgon found, and so came to the green plain amid the mountains, and saw the island-hill that stood there of hard smooth stone…then Turgon knew that he had found the place of his desire, and he resolved to build there a fair city…high and white were its walls, and smooth its stairs, and tall and strong was the Tower of the King.”
Aliquid Lacquer Shores Of Paradise ($10.00 for 15 ml/$4.50 for 5 ml) is a slightly sand-tinted base filled with various shades of gold, brown and white microglitter, plus scattered larger glitter in red, garnet, blue, aqua and clear iridescent. Shown here is three coats with topcoat. The formula was perfection. This is a really incredible shade, it totally looks like jewels in sand! (In fact, I used it as an accent nail for my pirate mani here! Arrr, matey!)
“…They sailed in their swift ships on the waters of the Bay of Elvenhome, or walked in the waves upon the shore with their hair gleaming in the light beyond the hill. Many jewels the Noldor gave them, opals and diamonds and pale crystals, which they strewed upon the shores and scattered in the pools; marvellous were the beaches of Elende in those days.”
Aliquid Lacquer Nightingale’s Song ($10.00 for 15 ml/$4.50 for 5 ml) is a grey scattered holographic polish sparkling with shimmer and flecks that shift between blue, purple and gold. There are also some rainbow iridescent glitters sprinkled throughout. Shown here is three coats with topcoat. The formula was fantastic, perfect consistency and applied easily. It’s so hard to catch the true beauty of this polish in photos but I tried my best! This one is so much more pretty in person.
“There came a time near dawn on the eve of spring, and Luthien danced upon a green hill; and suddenly she began to sing. Keen, heart-piercing was her song as the song of the lark that rises from the gates of night and pours its voice among the dying stars, seeing the sun behind the walls of the world; and the song of Luthien released the bonds of winter, and the frozen waters spoke, and flowers sprang from the cold earth where her feet had passed. Then the spell of silence fell from Beren, and he called to her, crying Tinuviel [which means ‘nightingale’]; and the woods echoed the name. Then she halted in wonder, and fled no more, and Beren came to her. But as she looked on him, doom fell upon her, and she loved him…”
Aliquid Lacquer Devouring Wave ($9.00 for 15 ml/$4.00 for 5 ml) is a blue jelly filled with a riot of metallic, iridescent and holographic hexes and shreds; colors include black, silver, red, blue and purple. Shown here is three coats with topcoat. The formula was good, a little more on the thin/sticky side than I personally prefer for a jelly but it was still pretty easy to apply. I’m in love with this one!
“…There came a mighty wind and a tumult of the earth, and the sky reeled, and the hills slid, and Numenor went down into the sea, with all its children and its wives and its maidens and its ladies proud; and all its gardens and its halls and its towers, its tombs and its riches, and its jewels and its webs and its things painted and carven, and its laughter and its mirth and its music, its wisdom and its lore: they vanished for ever. And last of all the mounting wave, green and cold and plumed with foam, climbing over the land, took to its bosom Tar-Miriel the Queen, fairer than silver or ivory or pearls. Too late she strove to ascend the steep ways of the Meneltarma to the holy place; for the waters overtook her, and her cry was lost in the roaring of the wind.”
All in all, another set of gorgeous, unique shades from Aliquid Lacquer, and this isn’t even all of them, be sure to watch her social media to see the other shades swatched! You can also save 10% by purchasing all 7 at once!
As you may know, Aliquid Lacquer also makes lip balm which are hands-down my favorite lip balm I’ve ever used. Yes. Ever! I have extremely sensitive skin, particularly on my lips and something about this is just so moisturizing, smooth and lasting, I love them! She came out with two new scents for this collection, Lavender Honey and Ginger Rose and sent me Lavender Honey to test out. It’s a really nice smell- I know in my heart that I shouldn’t eat it, but I just want to eat it. Is that weird? Previously I’d tried the Vanilla and Mint Citrus scents- I think mint citrus is still my favorite of the three but the other two are lovely. I talked a bit more in-depth about the lip balm in my last post.
