Hi, everyone! I’m excited to be sharing with you today swatches of the second collection from Aliquid Lacquer! This is called the Re-Gifted Collection and each polish in it started out as a holiday gift for her friends or family members.
I reviewed her birthday collection in a previous post and was impressed by the uniqueness and quality of the polish in her first collection, so I was quite excited when she gave me the chance to review the second one! I was sent four beautiful shades! Exploradora, A Pun On Teal, and Gargoyle are from the Re-Gifted collection and Stop And Smell The Orchids is a stand-alone polish which, as you may guess, is a tribute to the Pantone color of the year, Radiant Orchid!
Let’s get started with Aliquid Lacquer Exploradora. This is a warm tan crelly with medium magenta hexes and tiny black glitter (this description & others provided by the maker!). I used two coats for the below photos with a top coat of seche vite.
The formula was great, not too thick or thin, it applied easily and the pink glitters came right out. I’m not sure exactly how I feel about this one on me- I almost feel like I’d like it better on me without the pink glitters, but they also keep it interesting and unique and add something special to it.
Next up is Aliquid Lacquer A Pun on Teal. This is a green-leaning teal crelly with matte hexes in multiple sizes and colors, including white, blue, green, purple, pink and red. I love the name because I kind of hate all the punny teal names, have I tealed you about that yet? (Ugh, vomit.) I used three coats for the below photos with a top coat of seche vite.
The formula was okay, it was easy to apply, not too thick or thin but the glitters were a little tough to get into place because they like to stick to each other so make sure you have a good mix on the brush before you apply and you may have to dab them into place to spread them all out. It also sets kind of quick with the mini brush so you can’t really go back over it with the brush to slide any glitters around very much. Worth it, though!
Next is Aliquid Lacquer Gargoyle. This is a medium grey creme with white flakes and smaller flecks of gunmetal, gold and copper. I used two coats for the below photos with a top coat of seche vite.
The formula was great, it glided on easily and wasn’t too thick or thin. This was a surprise favorite for me. This shade of concrete grey is such a great color on it’s own and with so many tiny beautiful flecks and flakes it’s kept really interesting while still being work-safe and subtle.
Last but not least is Aliquid Lacquer Stop And Smell The Orchids. This is a light warm purple crelly with purple hexes and squares, small white hexes, and fuchsia microglitter, plus electric blue and purple flecks. I used two coats for the below photos with a top coat of seche vite.
The formula was great, a little patchy on the first coat but everything evened up nicely by the second. This is a fantastically beautiful polish! I’m a sucker for anything purple in general but this is just such a nice mix of the larger glitter and that gorgeous fuchsia micro glitter when you catch the light just right.
Overall this was a fantastic second collection from Aliquid Lacquer and I am very excited to see what else she is going to put out next! She also carries handmade lip balms and sent me one of her new scents, which I was quite excited about. Why, you ask? Since I tried the first vanilla-scented one, it immediately became my favorite lip balm.
Unfortunately I have a hungry bear living in the house who has eaten not one but two of them!! After the first time I made sure to put the next one up high when not in use but it seems the cat has started collaborating with him and knocked it down to him last week. Bad doggie!!
|The guilty party, fresh after a grooming.|
So, it’s not just Mercurial Magpie-approved but Mugen-approved as well! He is a lip balm fiend, but only the best of the best. Previously he chowed (ha, get it?) down on my Burt’s Bees Pink Grapefruit chapstick, which was my favorite prior to Aliquid Lacquer putting this one out.
Anyway, so the new scents she has now are chai and mint citrus. I received mint citrus. Formula-wise the chapstick is incredibly smooth and hydrating, and I find it lasts a really long time as well. From her esty shop, the ingredients are all natural moisturizers–mango butter, apricot kernel oil and olive oil (sources of linoleic and oleic acids and vitamins A, C, and E). Each balm contains approximately 4 grams of product.
I have pretty sensitive skin, especially around my mouth and this stuff is just great. Mint Citrus is fresh and clean-smelling, I think I like this one even more than the vanilla one! Which is good because I only have one left that hasn’t been eaten by the bad doggie.
|“Don’t be mad at me, I’m so cute!” Okay, you’re forgiven.|
