So, originally I was not planning on doing any kind of year-end posts because I’ve only been blogging for half a year so far and it’s only been the past month or so when I’m not looking back at my old posts and cringing. But I figured I’d suck it up and do at least one- my top ten favorite indie polishes of the year. I’m not 100% sure that these all came out in 2013 (I know the Pahlish didn’t, but I think that’s the only one), but this is when I bought them. Next year will be easier.
Apologies in advance that some of these are really terrible photos! I started using a nicer camera part way through the year and made some other improvements so rather than be embarassed by some of these photos I’ll just say I’ve learned a lot 😉 Ordering these was difficult, and there were a few that just barely didn’t make it in, this was a lot harder than I thought it would be!
Noodles Nail Polish was a new-to-me brand who I stumbled across this year. The owner is totally awesome and I was so happy to try one of her polishes out- as soon as I put this on, I knew it’d be one of my favorites. The combination of the rich purple and the subtle blue shimmer is just so, so pretty and I can’t wait to hopefully try some of her other shades sometime this next year!
Sweet Heart Polish is another new-to-me indie who is ran by an awesome girl! Scarab Shells immediately became my favorite from her The Mummy collection, it’s such a gorgeous light shade of purple and the holo keeps it interesting.
I originally stalked the Chaos And Crocodiles restock hoping that I’d be able to snag Fireside Nights, which I did. I threw this little baby in my cart as an impulse and started second-guessing the purchase as soon as I did it. I even offered to sell it to a friend of mine who’d been trying to score it if I didn’t love it once it came in. Well, unfortunately that friend had to wait until the next restock because I totally fell in love! The base is such a great robins-egg blue and the glitters just add to it’s beauty. This is on my list of polishes that I need to re-swatch for you guys and show you some better photos of!
Yikes, none of these photos were great quality so I had to pick the shiniest of turds, sorry guys! But this polish is a beauty. I’ve collected quite a few shades by KBShimmer lately but this one remains my favorite. I’m a sucker for glitter in jellies in general and the mix and size of these just hits the spot.
ALIQUID Lacquer is new on the indie scene this year but her first collection was really strong. I was dying to get my hands on Quiet Night and I loved it once I did, but I was definitely taken by surprise at this beauty! The tiny green/red shimmer just adds an extra layer of awesome to this beautiful polish, and I cannot wait to see what she’ll be coming out with in the next year! This is one indie brand to keep an eye on!
Just look at that. I’ve already mentioned my love of glitter in jelly bases, but this polish just takes it to a whole new level. Emily De Molly has such a great eye for color and shapes, every single tiny glitter in this polish adds something to it and combine that with a great formula that didn’t require any fishing for glitter? This definitely deserves a spot in the top five!
I’d been wanting to try this brand out for so long and I’m so glad that I finally did, I was missing out! I wavered for awhile on purchasing this polish but I’m so glad that I did! This polish is the prettiest shade of purple, each glitter is carefully selected and adds to it’s ethereal beauty. This polish makes me want to ride a unicorn over a rainbow!
This is my first Pahlish, although I recently ordered a few more shades from the brand! I actually received this as a secret santa gift and have fallen totally in love with it. Again with the glitter in jelly, this rich red has a beautiful mix of glitters that gives it a sparkling effect and is quite fiery! I’m quite excited to try out some other shades from this brand.
I’ve featured Indigo Bananas heavily on this blog, so it was difficult to narrow it down to a favorite. To be frank, there are a couple other shades that may have made this list (Immortal Game, Twice As Bright, Maui Wowee) but the pictures were just so terrible that I couldn’t do it. (Should I re-swatch any? Let me know in the comments!) But this shade really stood out as deserving to be near the top of my list, even above all of the other awesome shades she’s made. The tiny colorshifting glitter creates an incredible effect, pictures seriously can’t capture the awesomeness of this polish- I do have a video on my instagram if you’re curious. This is a total must-have polish!
And, last but not least. I’ve already talked about the brand in general, but I lusted after this polish for a long time. And a long time it was out of stock. I was so incredibly happy when it finally came back in stock, and it did not disappoint me even one bit when it arrived. Totally gorgeous mix of color and glitters, when I put this on I never want to take it off. A complete must-have for anyone! Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.
That’s it for this year, folks! Thanks for reading my blog this year and all the support you have given me, I appreciate it more than you know. Stay safe if you go out tonight, make sure you have a DD, all that jazz. I’ll be going to a country bar with dueling pianos and a mechanical bull- not exactly my normal scene but it’ll be fun and something new for new years. Hope yours is great!
