So, this will be a couple weeks ago by the time this is posted, but as I write this post I am getting ready to head down to Marion, North Carolina for the weekend and a mini-family reunion! Now, if you don’t know yet, I am a big fan of The Hunger Games, both the book series and the movies.
My mom also read the books and is Team gale for some reason.
Probably a good twenty pounds lighter, haha. But my district 12 shirt & my mockingjay necklace! I have the pin version on my purse.
My boyfriend loves Jennifer Lawrence and bought the stand-up from F.Y.E., haha.
The cool thing we found out last year when we went down to visit my grandmother (this was I think right after the movie came out in theatres) that the location they filmed most of the district 12 scenes at was only about 15 minutes away! So, we decided to visit, I’ll share some photos in a moment. The really neat thing was once the DVD/Bluray came out, one of the featurettes (I tried to find it on youtube for you guys but no dice) actually showed them filming here and showed for example how far away the tree Katniss is behind when Peeta throws her the bread in the rain actually is from the bakery. It also showed a shot of the abandoned houses & how they digitally added features in. It was really awesome to know, “Wow, I was right there!!”
This is the thing she runs across quickly in the beginning of the movie as she’s leaving district 12.
According to the local sheriff guy, this is the house they used for Katniss’ house. I’m not sure if he meant the inside or outside of it.
Had to photoshop my boyfriend with some bread in front of the bakery lol!
My sister & I in front of the bakery. Note how far away that tree was!!
Someone had already stolen the ‘pastries’ sign :
Of course, now every time we go down to visit, we say “We’re going to district 12!!”, haha. Unfortunately for Catching Fire they moved to filming in Atlanta, and I think Mockingjay is going to be part Atlanta and part Boston.
Okay, enough fangirling, on to the nails! I am really in the fall mood lately. I started with one coat of OPI Malaga Wine (a perfect wine-red) on all fingers and two coats of Chaos & Crocodiles Fireside Nights on everything but the ring fingers. I stamped using Messy Mansion MM06 plate on the ring fingers with Revlon Gold Coin. I think it turned out okay, I kind of wish I’d used a yellow rather than gold to match better.
What do you think? And are you going to check out the next Hunger Games movie, Catching Fire? I already bought my tickets for the very first showing, haha! I might be just a little bit obsessed…
