Nail Polish & Makeup Storage/Organization! How I use my Melmers!

As promised, my swatch sticks came in finally so I can show you guys how I have my storage set up! I swatched all 97 (only 3 more to a hundred which isn’t much in the blogger world but still mind-blowing to me personally, this time last year I had maybe 10 polishes! most of this was accumulated in the past 3-4 months) and unfortunately on a few sticks I was too impatient and thought they’d fully dried when they hadn’t, and some got stuck to each other a little, ugh! But I am glad to have everything swatched finally. It took me a couple hours, had to crack a window as the fumes were making me all @_@;;; Anyways, onto the tour!

This is the area of my room everything is set up in. I love my desk, it was purchased off craisglist barely used and only $60!

My Game of Thrones posters are my favorite part of this area! As you can see, I still haven’t really decided what to do with those spice racks- just put a couple things that would fit in there as placeholders right now.

I was watching vsauce while swatching, haha.

On top of my melmer is my makeup mirror, a black train case that is mostly empty right now, my makeup brushes, my swatch sticks & a small container that holds my acetone, cuticle remover, sponges, cotton wipes, etc. Left side is nail polish, right side is makeup! Let’s take a look at the drawers on the left first.

Top drawer: Revlon & other random brands, mostly drugstore (L’oreal, Pure Ice, Sally Hansen, Wet N Wild, Color Club) on the left, Orly, Etude House, Essie, Indigo Bananas and Hot Mess Lacquers on the right. In the middle are my top coats/base coats/drying drops, etc.

Middle drawer: OPI on the left, Zoya in the middle and China Glaze to the right.

Bottom drawer: Supplies, mainly. The top basket holds binder rings, acrylic paint, brushes, scotch tape, striping tape, rhinestones, etc. The one to the right hold nail art wheels, extra swatch sticks, extra concealer brushes from E.L.F. (for cleanup), etc. The bottom middle holds my konad stamping stuff and the one on the left holds cuticle oils, toe separators, files, cuticle pushers, etc. This drawer also squeaks horribly when it’s opened & closed. Anyone else have that issue with one of their melmer drawers? What can I do to fix it? It’s really loud, haha.

Onto the right side!

Top drawer: Palettes mainly. The little bin to the right holds hair cutting scissors, a jumbo sharpener, that kinda stuff.

Middle Drawer: Eyeshadows, powders, setting sprays, foundations/bb creams, primers, blush, highlighters, pigments, concealer, brow stuff.

Bottom Drawer: Lipstick, Lip butters, Lipgloss, Lip stains, pencil eyeliner, liquid eyeliner, gel eyeliner, lip pencils, eyebrow pencils, mascara, eye primers, eyelash curler. My favorite eyeliner is actually not in this photo, I forgot to take it out of my purse, but it is the Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner. It is AMAZING. I may do a post for it on it’s own, but the brush is so small that it’s easy to get a fine line, which is really helpful for me because my eyes are not quite fully hooded but very close to being. Even a semi-thick line of eyeliner and you basically can’t see anything else on my lid when I’m not looking down. 🙁

So, that’s it for the Melmer drawers! I really enjoy this setup, previously I had been using a hodgepodge of small plastic drawers and random office organizers and I think this looks much better.

I’ll also share some photos of my swatch sticks! I tried to organize them mainly by color.

Reds.
Silvers/Grays.

Golds/Oranges/Whites/Blacks/Browns.

Glitter in clear bases.

Purples.

Pinks part 1.

Pinks part 2.

Greens/Yellows.

Blues.

What do you think? Do you like my setup? How do you store your beauty products? I’d love to hear from you!
