I came home today after nearly a month staying at my boyfriend’s place. Although it is a bit lonely here without the pets (& him too I suppose!) it’s always nice to be home and not living out of a suitcase! I was particularly excited about setting up the melmers my boyfriend purchased me. I will include some more about that below. But first, today’s swatch I am sharing with you is of China Glaze For Audrey. Since I was finally home I wanted to take a shot at using some small rhinestones I had purchased online. I had some small bubbling with the polish, I am going to try using thinner coats next time. This is 2 coats of For Audrey, 1 of Rock Hard Base Coat & 2 of Seche Vite.
I had a little bit of trouble with the rhinestones- I used a slanted tweezer (shown below) to pick the stones up and dip them in topcoat off of the brush.
I tried to avoid getting any topcoat on the tweezers but inevitably did most times and so the stone wanted to just stick to the tweezer instead of hopping on to my nail! So that sucked. I’m going to need to do a bit of research on a better technique for that. I also accidentally applied way too much topcoat to my ring finger (& it bubbled at the edge) once I was done applying the stones but didn’t realize it until it was partially dry and I was getting ready to take photos. Oh, well. Onto the rest of the photos!
One other thing I am excited about- I ordered a lightbox! I am hoping it will come in sometime this week. This should increase the quality of my photos and also the color-accuracy. It also means I can swatch at night time, so that will be nice!
So, here is a preview of my new organization setup. I probably should have taken a before picture but I was just too excited to get everything set up! I am waiting for some swatch sticks and a couple other things in the mail, once I receive those I’ll do a post showing the insides of the drawers and all that good stuff. Currently 1 is being used for nail polish and the other for my makeup.
|I made a swatch wheel of some of my favorite polishes to have something nice to look at since they’re mostly in the drawers now!|
|These two jars will hold my swatch sticks once they get here. I kept this etude house polish for display because it’s too cute!|
I also wanted to show 3 polishes I am super excited to wear! I was lucky enough to snag Emily De Molly‘s Cosmic Forces & Oceanic Forces in the last Llarowe restock! I’ve wanted these for a long time and was waffling for awhile on purchasing them. I kept adding & deleting them to my polish wishlist too, haha. When the restock opened, I checked ebay out of curiosity and saw they were going for more than double the purchase price, so I decided to buy them at the actual price while I could in case I regretted it later! I really wanted to wear one today but I want to wait for my lightbox to wear them. I also picked up A England St. George which is just so, so pretty. Expect to see swatches soon!
